FAQ's and Policies

Hey there! Julia here to help answer any questions you may have, and to make your jewelry buying experience completely worry free! 

Here's the nitty gritty on questions I am asked most often...
I ask that my customers be aware of, and respect my shop policies!

Return Policy

  • One of a kind items may be returned in their original condition for store credit only. 
  • Made to order items may be exchanged for a different size (in the case of rings), or may be returned in their original condition for store credit only.

Materials and Process

My pieces are made using .925 sterling silver unless otherwise noted.

The materials used in each piece are described in their product listings. 

The types of stones I use differ from piece to piece. It is important to note that most of the stones I use are one-of-a-kind. This often means that I cannot make duplicates of a piece, and makes repairs for one-of-a-kind works near impossible.

Stones will show wear over time, and the amount and kind of wear will differ with each stone. This is due to each stone's porosity and strength. I do my best to use only the highest quality stones, but it is impossible for me to predict how they will wear once they find their "forever home". 

I use liver of sulfur, and occasionally Black Max Oxidizer to darken areas of my pieces.

All of my pieces are handmade from start to finish!

Shipping

Shipping prices are calculated based on the shipping address, weight, and mail class. 

First Class Mail typically takes 3-5 days from time of shipping and includes no shipping insurance.

Priority Mail typically takes 1-3 days from time of shipping and includes up to $100 of shipping. I recommend this option if you are buying a higher-price item. 

I try to keep my turnaround time as short as possible, because I know how exciting it is to get something awesome in the mail! 

One-of-a-kind pieces are ready to ship, aside from a final polish. Those will ship in 1-3 business days. From there, the time it takes to get to you is dependent upon the shipping provider.

Made-to-order pieces (everything not specified as one-of-a-kind) are made by me as soon as possible. Depending on timing and my material levels it can take anywhere from 2-10 days.

Sizing/Fit

RINGS
Made-to-order rings are made to the size you specify at checkout. If you do not know your ring size, I suggest getting sized at your local jewelry store. It is possible to size your fingers at home using the internet, but getting your ring sized by a jeweler is much more accurate! If you are unable to get to a jeweler for ring sizing, I am currently offering FREE at-home ring sizers here

I rely on my customers to know their ring sizes and only offer exchanges for made-to-order rings. I am happy to answer questions regarding size/fit of each ring!

NECKLACES
Each necklace's chain length can be found in its product listing.

If you prefer a longer or shorter chain than what is listed, just let me know! I am happy to customize the length to your liking, and will invoice you for any extra chain.

Repairs

I try my best to make my jewelry as durable as possible with the materials I use--but things happen, and sometimes jewelry breaks. 

Stones will show wear over time, and the amount and kind of wear will differ with each stone. This is due to each stone's porosity and strength. I do my best to use only the highest quality stones, but it is impossible for me to predict how they will wear once they find their "forever home". Unfortunately, I cannot repair or clean stones.

If a piece you ordered is broken or damaged upon arrival, I will fix or replace the item free of charge upon receiving photo evidence of the damage. Please let me know as soon as possible if your new piece is broken or damaged, as I will only honor the offer 7 days after your package was delivered (I can monitor this using the tracking number provided by USPS). 


Jewelry is inherently fragile, and may become damaged over time due to heavy wear and tear, or due to a single damaging event. In most cases, the customer must take responsibility for any damage occurs. If you believe there is a quality issue with a piece you purchased, send me a message to discuss it. 

Many factors will determine whether or not I am able to repair a piece. If it is determined a repair is possible, you will be charged shipping one-way, and a repair fee. 


I like to believe all of my customers are honest regarding issues they have with their jewelry. However, I must protect myself against those that are not. Therefore, I cannot guarantee repair for any piece or offer free repair.

I do not tolerate rudeness/harassment/intimidation. If you are unhappy with your order, I will do my best to work with you to fix it, as long as you are kind about it.

Customer's Assumption of Risk

Small jewelry is a choking hazard. While my jewelry is no more dangerous than any other jewelry available on the market, I urge you to wear carefully, keep out of reach of children, and remove jewelry while sleeping and bathing. Third Hand is not responsible for any accidents that may occur.

FAQ's

Q: I've had my jewelry for a bit, and it broke...will you fix it?

A: I work hard to create the most durable high-quality sterling silver jewelry available, but things happen!

Q: Can you hold a piece for me? I get paid next week but I promise I'll come back for it... 

A: I cannot place holds on items, but am open to discussing payment plans. 

Q: What if someone buys the piece I wanted before I have a chance?

A: If you have your eye on a one-of-a-kind piece but another customer purchases it before you have a chance, I am in no way obligated to remake or duplicate that piece for you. Take a look at the shop often to see if something similar becomes available!
